Milan, September 9, 2024 – Giorgio Possagno has been appointed as the new Director General of Assocalzaturifici, the Confindustria association representing over 500 footwear companies across Italy.

At 53, Possagno holds a law degree from the University of Parma and a master’s certificate in industrial property protection. He also specialized in sustainable business models at Ca’ Foscari Challenge School in Venice. His career began at Pirelli, and he later held roles at Telecom Italia and Veronafiere.

An international career journey

Possagno began his career at Pirelli, first working in Milan and later in São Paulo, Brazil. In 2002, he joined TIM Brasil, working in Rio de Janeiro.

Returning to Telecom Italia in 2012, he transitioned to Veronafiere as General Manager of Veronafiere Servizi S.p.A. In 2019, he was appointed CEO of Polo Fieristico Veronese S.p.A.

Future challenges for Assocalzaturifici

After his appointment, Giorgio Possagno expressed his gratitude towards President Giovanna Ceolini and the Assocalzaturifici board. He highlighted the association’s importance in representing the Italian manufacturing sector. Possagno has committed to strengthening communication with all member companies and driving innovation in the services provided.

“Taking on this role within an organization that represents the excellence of the Italian footwear sector is a significant responsibility,” Possagno stated. “With the support of all the members, management, and collaborators, we will face the challenges ahead with positivity.”

Possagno’s background in sustainable business models aligns with his new role, where he aims to promote innovation within Assocalzaturifici. He also emphasized the importance of maintaining Confindustria’s mission and strengthening ties among the various Italian production districts.
